I’ll Uphold Rule of Law…Minister Lateef Fagbemi SAN Affirms

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi has promised to uphold fairness, justice, and the rule of law.

While calling on three tiers of government to contribute their quotas towards the development of the country, the minister said no nation can grow without justice.

The Minister who stated this at Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, ABUAD, during a reception organized to honour him by the founder of the institution affirmed that the contributions of everyone would reposition the country for the better in all sectors.

Prince Fagbemi who narrated how he was tutored by Aare Afe Babalola appreciated the legal Icon for the reception, saying he would forever be grateful to him.

In his speech, the organizer of the reception, a legal Luminary, Aare Afe Babalola who described Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN as an uncommon man doing uncommon things and achieving uncommon results called for a new constitution that will mandate political office holders to treat their offices as an avenue for rendering service to the people and not for making money.

He also called the Federal government’s attention to the distressing and unhealthy heritage of the eighty-seven trillion debt owned by the country.

According to him, when a person inherits suffocating debt, he does not only loses his sleep, but he cannot plan for any capital investment.

Aare Babalola therefore lamented over the deplorable condition of roads in Ekiti State, saying he had written over sixteen letters to both the State and Federal Governments to put the roads in good condition.

Aare Afe Babalola, the Founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, ABUAD explained that he had been maintaining the road leading to the university for the last fifteen years.

In his speech, Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji who expressed confidence that the minister for justice would perform exceptionally lauded Aare Babalola’s achievements in education, Health, legal, and Agriculture.

In their goodwill messages, classmate of the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Adeyemi Adeyinka, family, Mr. Sikiru Sanni, Client, Alhaji Tunde Badmus, friend, Adeniyi Akintola and colleague, Mr. Kola Olawoye noted that God has used Prince Fagbemi SAN to produce lawyers of distinction, captains of industries, executive directors of blue-chip companies, professors of law. Senior Advocates of Nigeria, judges, and justices of various courts.

According to them, the event is just one of such opportunities to appreciate God and what God had used him to do for humanity.

Prince Fagbemi SAN joined the Chambers of Afe Babalola & Co known as Emmanuel Chambers for his youth service in 1985.

In 1996 whilst still in the Chambers, he was conferred with the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria at the age of 37 and at 10 years at the Bar.

Prince Fagbemi SAN who spent fifteen years of his legal practice in Emmanuel Chambers, is the second product of the Chambers to be appointed as the Honorable Attorney General of the Federation and Minister for Justice, the first to be appointed is Chief Akin Olujimi, SAN, CON.
