ACCREDITATION

  • ABUAD secured 100% accreditation in all the 46 programmes presented to National Universities Commission (NUC) since 2013 including College of Medicine and Health Sciences on the first go. No university in Nigeria both public and private had got full accreditation in Medicine and Health Sciences in ten (10) years even though the University is less than five years old thereby achieving unprecedented feat in educational annals of Nigeria
  • The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) granted full accreditation for all the Seven (7) Engineering Programmes
  • The Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN) granted full accreditation for our Computer programme
  • In September 2013, the Computer Professionals(Registration Council of Nigeria) designated ABUAD as Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Science and Research in Nigeria
  • ABUAD secured 100% accreditation from Council for Legal Education in its Law Programme thereby becoming the first university ever to get its quota increased from 50 to 188 because of its academic excellence.
  • National Institute of Marketing, Nigeria granted full accreditation for its Marketing programme
  • Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) granted full accreditation for its Banking & Finance programme
  • Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria full accreditation for its Accounting programme.

ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS

  • About 6500 students across the country sat for the 2018 Finals Bar Examination of the Nigerian Law School ABUAD recorded 100% pass rate with Ekpo Naomi Uwem from ABUAD emerging the Overall Best Student, won 13 prizes while ABUAD graduates in all won 24 out of 36 prizes
  • 43 students presented for the First MBBS Examination in July 2018 recorded an unprecedented 100% pass rate with eight (8) distinctions – the equivalent of First Class in other disciplines. This accomplishment makes ABUAD the first University in the Country (Nigeria) to produce Medical Doctors in six and half years after it Medical Programme flagged off.
  • In 2018 Accounting Technician Scheme (ATS) examination of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAN), a 200 Level, student of the Department of Economics, Miss Nellieken Ochinke emerged Second Best out of the 2500 candidates who sat for the examination in West Africa.
  • UNESCO instituted a Professorial Chair in Entrepreneurship & Sustainable Development in the College of Sciences
  • Appointed in November 2013 to mentor the College of Industrial Development (UID), Accra, Ghana thereby becoming the first university in Nigeria to mentor a foreign university.
  • The first private University and even the youngest to host the 29th Conference of the Association of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (AVCNU)
  • The foremost construction giant, Julius Berger has opened its door wide to Engineering Students of the University to understudy Julius Berger’s operations, undergo their practical works with the company and study in Germany with a view to making them real and robust professionals upon graduation
  • In appreciation of ABUAD’s uncommon and exemplary contributions to the institutionalization of quality, functional and reformatory education in Nigeria, the UNESCO Regional Office, Abuja held an historic three-day annual Retreat in the University in September, a privilege not granted many.
  • The University has gone beyond the NUC benckmark in curriculum by developing and introducing four new programmes in the University’s curriculum. The new programmes are Mechatronics, Social Justice and Intelligence & Security Studies as well as Human Biology. This is done in the University’s avowed determination to improve upon the nexus between the town and gown.
  • International Linkages with highly ranked world universities
  • The timeous spate of accreditation have greatly assisted the university in graduating its first and second set of students, 103 students and 336 students respectively in less than five years. What an unprecedented achievement
  • The University added another feather to its cap of many “firsts” when it was the only Nigerian University invited by the United Kingdom-based UCIE Professors Network, alongside other world class universities to participate in the 2014 edition of Oxford symposium organized by the Universal Business School, Oxford at Balliol Hall, Balliol College, University of Oxford between September 27 and 29, 2014.
  • Based on the brilliant and stimulating presentations by the ABUAD representatives at the Oxford symposium, the University Business School, Oxford unanimously endorsed the university to play host to the 2016 and third edition of the Oxford Symposium
  • Inspite of the fact that ABUAD is less than five (5) years old, 1,890 students made the university their first choice in the last Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations thereby becoming the 2nd best private university of first choice.
  • The Country Director of the African Development Bank (AfDB) led a team from the AfDB’s Country Office on a tour of the university to see the on-going self-financed projects and making preliminary need assessment of the university’s partnership opportunities. He congratulated the University and the Founder for their great achievements and for spearheading development of quality education through selfless service, uncommon patriotism and unusual philanthropy in promoting human capital development, food security, jobs creation, general poverty reduction, and entrepreneurship and private sector developments in Nigeria.
  • Best Female Engineering Student for ABUAD By Association of Professional Women Engineering of Nigeria
  • Second Overall Best Student from ABUAD by ICAN (Accounting Technician Scheme, West Africa (ATSWA))
  • Best Brain Award by Nigeria Trust Award, 2012
  • Best University Law Faculty – African Governance and Corporate Leadership Award by Institute of Government Research and Leadership Technology, 2012
  • The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr Akinwumi Adesina, gave to Babalola for his far-reaching investment in the University and its farms, which the IITA has designated as a Research Centre in Agriculture. In his words, “but I am not surprised because anybody that knows Aare Afe Babalola would know what he stands for – EXCELLENCE” and expressed delight in the combination of academic training and entrepreneurship by the university, saying products of the University, no doubt receive total education that would make them self-sufficient and employers of labour.
  • As part of the academic excellence that ABUAD is noted for and being a model and benchmark university, ten (10) of its students were recently awarded the Agbami Medical and Engineering Professional Scholarship by Chevron Star Deep Water Petroleum Ltd and Partners
  • At the Universities debate held at Lagos State University on 30th October, 2014, ABUAD students came 2nd.
  • At the University debate held under the auspices of the Nigerian Bar Association at Ibadan ABUAD Law students came 1st.

  • The first Private University in Nigeria to take-off on its permanent site with all human and material resources on ground.
