The Abuad Chess has been in existence since the beginning of first session of the university (2010/2011 session). It is call Abuad Chess Family (ACF) is a sport gathering of people who come together to enjoy and share in a game of intellectual development, peace and freedom. Over the years, ACF had brought numerous medals to this great university in all the competitions attended. ACF had produced and still producing intellectually sound athletes-students, annually 80% of the student-athletes in ACF are between 1st class and 21, this make ACF to be home of intellectuals. We have ACF members that are now lecturers in the colleges and administrative staff in the university, also other alumni are doing well in their chosen careers both within and outside Nigeria. In ACF we monitor the progress of the members academically and in other aspects of life.
ACHIEVEMENTS SO FAR
ABUAD Chess Family (ACF) had numerous achievements some of which are:
* Producing Nigeria No. 1 under 21 players – 2013 – 2021
* ESHIGA Maiden Competition 2011 – 1 Gold, 5 Silver and 13 Bronze medals
* NPUGA-JABU 2013 – Best team in chess with – 5 Gold, 7 Silver and 3 Bronze medals
* NPUGA-ABUAD 2015 – Best team in chess with – 10 Gold, 8 Silver and 3 Bronze medals
* NPUGA-NILE 2017 – Best team in chess with – 8 Gold, 4 Silver and 2 Bronze medals
* ESHIGA Competition 2019 – Best team in chess with – 6 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze medals
* Chess games in ABUAD had helped students and still helping new ones below average academically to develop their intellectual capacity and to improve above average.
* Majority of best graduating students in Abuad were ACF members
The only thing you need is passion to learn and to improve in the game. You don’t need to have experience in the game before, you will learn chess from the beginners’ stage to professional level.
