ABUAD elevates four as professors, eight as Readers

In appreciation of their immense contributions in scholarship and research as well as to the general development of the university, Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), has promoted four of its academic staff from Readers to Professors and eight others from Senior Lecturers to Readers.

The elevation of the academics came after an assessment by the Appointments and Promotions Committee of staff in the cadres of Readers and Professors last month.

The new professors are Prof. Olurotimi Sanya, the Acting Provost of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Prof. Abiodun Ojo, the Acting Provost of the College of Sciences and Prof. Steven Utulu of the College of Sciences as well as Prof. Yekini Lawal, of the College of Social and Management Sciences.

The new Readers are Dr. Pius Okiki and Dr. Amos Onasanya of the College of Sciences, Dr. A  Durotoye, Dr. Philip Aborisade and Samuel Babaleye of the College of Social & Management Sciences as well as Dr. Kazeem Oyedeji, Dr.(Mrs.) Adeola Oluboyo and Dr. Tony Ojiezeh of the College of Medicine & Health Sciences.

Prof. Sanya, who studied in the University of Lagos, University of Calabar, University of Ife and University of Ilorin, joined the services of the University as a Reader in the College of Medicine and Health Sciences. The multiple Award-winning new professor of Physiology has since been the Acting Provost of the College.

Ojo, now a professor of Chemistry, became a Reader in October 2012. He is currently the Acting Provost of the College of Sciences while Lawal, a former Acting Provost of the College of Social and Management Sciences and currently the Director of Academic Planning has been appointed a Professor of Business Administration.

On his part, Utulu who joined the services of the university as a Reader in November 2013 from NIFOR has worked assiduously to ensure that Agriculture programme of the university was fully accredited. He is now Professor of Weeds Science.

Okiki, now a Reader, joined the services of the University as a Senior Lecturer in December 2011.  He became the Acting Head of Department of Biological Sciences and was found prima-facie qualified for Readership in October 2013 while Onasanya, another Reader, is currently the Acting Head of Chemical Sciences Department.

Durotoye joined the services of the University in May 2014 as a Senior Lecturer in the    Department of International Relations and Diplomacy.  He equally scaled the hurdle to become a Reader.

Others are Oyedeji, who joined the University as a Senior Lecturer in 2011. He is the currently Acting Head of the Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics,  Oluboyo who assumed duty in the University in February 2015 from Namdi Azikwe University, Nwewi in Anambra State as a Senior Lecturer in the College of Medicine and Health Sciences and Ojiezeh who was appointed a Senior Lecturer on 2nd May, 2013 and became the Head of the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences in 2014.  He secured full accreditation for the program in 2015.

Yet other Readers are Aborisade. He joined the services of the University in July 2012 as a Senior Lecturer in the Media and Communications Programme and Babaleye who joined the University in March 2015 as a Senior Lecturer in the College of Social and Management Sciences.
