The turning of the sod ceremony of a 121-unit ABUAD Industrial Research Park in the University

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose has assured the management of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti(ABUAD) of support in its quest to fast track self sustaining economy and the industrialization of Nigeria.

Governor Fayose gave the assurance while addressing dignitaries at a session preceding the ground breaking ceremony of a 121-unit ABUAD Research Industrial Park in the University.

Mr. Fayose said though his tenure is winding down, he hope ‘a man after God’s heart whom he intends to install as successor will dualize the Odo-Ado/ABUAD/Ijan Road in due course.

Governor Fayose who said he’s ready to give out land to the university as soon as it is needed promised to continue to create enabling environment for industrial development in the state.

Lamenting how the Fayemi administration frustrated his effort at constructing an airstrip in the state using the court, Fayose charged ABUAD founder, Aare Afe Babalola to convene an Ekiti stakeholders’ meeting involving politicians from both sides where development of the state will be debated.

Director of Technological Development in ABUAD and the man saddled with management of the project, Prof. Adeyemi Adegbemisipo said the Industrial Park would address the missing link in terms of skill acquisition in Nigeria’s educational system.

Corporate Affairs Manager of ABUAD, Mr. Tunde Olofintila said the Industrial Research Park is designed to translate into viable products the research efforts of the university through the establishment of various industries in a dedicated park with provision for all necessary infrastructural facilities such as energy, staff housing and security amongst others.

Olofintila added that the park will take off with a 5.67 Megawatts of Gas turbine-driven Power Plant which will be provided by ABUAD Plant Limited, a joint venture between ABUAD and CADMIUM.

An obviously elated Aare Afe Babalola said his vision and mission for ABUAD, his 21st Century University which commenced Academic works on January 4th, 2010 but now has more than 8000 students would not have been fully accomplished without the ultramodern 400-bed Multi System Hospital which was commissioned on 20th October 2017 and the ABUAD Industrial Park whose sod was turned today.

According to the legal Juggernaut and educational giant, ABUAD would establish a number of industries of its own whilst it has already got in touch with some industries, banks and allied institutions which would rent part of the structures in the Industrial Park upon take off, adding that “this is the time to effectively make use of the myriads of partnerships and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) we have entered into as a university with reputable organizations like FESTO of Germany and to go the way of Stanford University, my mentor, which has the the biggest Industrial Park in the world”.
