The Founder and President Emeritus of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), Aare Afe Babalola, SAN, has welcome the new Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State Command, Mr. Felix Uyanna, with a pledge to cooperate with him in the discharge of his duties in the State of Fountain of Knowledge.
Receiving the top cop in his office at Afe Babalola University on February 17, 2014, Babalola commended Uyanna to taking time out to visit him upon assuming duties in Ekiti State, pointing out that his coming “underscores the fact that is now friendly with the people”
He added: “Indeed, Police is now a friend of the people as they are now closer and nearer to the people than they had hitherto been”.
Babalola told his guest that his four-year old university remains the safest and violence-free university campus in Nigeria, a veritable factor responsible for President Goodluck Jonathan to be part of the university’s maiden convocation ceremonies last October when he personally commissioned the university’s gargantuan College of Engineering which is built on three and half acres of land and reputed to be biggest innAfrica.
He encouraged the new Police boss to endeavour to visit Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe Aladesanmi III, the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Mrs. T.T. Akande and the Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Prof. Aina Oladipo as part of his familiarization tour.
In his response, Uyanna thanked Babalola for his well known and acknowledge cooperation with his predecessor as solicited for same from the Aare Baamofin of Yorubaland.
Having gone round, he commended the legal icon for the good works he is doing in changing the face of education in Nigeria for better.
