ABUAD – a miracle, says Governor Fayemi

The Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has made a clarion call to the people of the state to support Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti in its developmental efforts.

He made the call while receiving the University’s Founder and President Emeritus, Aare Afe Babalola who led members of the Governing Council and Management Staff on a thank you visit to the Governor in his office.

The Governor described the conceptualization of the University as a miracle, adding that its actualization was a statement of excellence, hard-work and commitment for which the Founder was known for.

He announced that his government will continue to support the University. To facilitate easy linkage, the Governor requested for the inclusion of Ekiti State Government representative on the University Council. He re-affirmed his determination to honour his promise of granting scholarships to some students of the institution.

On the airport project for the state, the Governor thanked Aare Babalola for his zeal and sense of purpose.

Earlier, the Founder, Aare Afe Babalola had expressed gratitude to the Governor for attending the Founder’s Day Celebration despite his very tight schedule. He also thanked him for his gestures particularly his intention to redeem the scholarship pledge.

Contributing, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sidi Osho informed the Governor that there is a slot reserved for Ekiti State Representative on the University Council. She expressed disappointment on the inactive nature of the State Representative. The VC urged the Governor to advise the representative to be more active.

In his vote of thanks, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Michael Ajisafe, appealed to the Governor to expedite actions on the rehabilitation of the road linking the University with the rest of the State.

The wife of the Founder, Yeye Modupe Babalola, the President Rector of Europe, Prof. Wil Goodheer, the Representatives of the Niger State Government and that of Fountain University, Osogbo were present at the occasion.
