As Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD) continues to fulfill the mission of producing globally relevant leaders, the University, has received yet another commendation.

This time, it was from a delegation of the Nigerian Legal Council who paid a two day inspection tour to the University.

In his speech, the leader of the team Dr. Nathaniel Inefidon described ABUAD work ethic as a reflection of the Founder’s knack for hard work and determination. He gave kudos to the staff and management for their efforts in achieving so much just within three years of its existence. He lauded the Founder, Aare Afe Babalola (SAN) for his outstanding contributions to the development of the Law profession and his philanthropic gestures to the indigent students in particular and mankind in general.

Dr. Inefidon expressed pleasant surprise at well-stocked, up-to date Law library adding that no other University in Nigeria can boast of current Law journals that ABUAD has. He prayed to God to endow the Founder with good health and long life to be able to accomplish more laurels for the good of the people.

At the occasion, the Secretary of the team Mr. Bala Bello expressed satisfaction at the state of the art facilities available in the University adding that their visit was to assess the quality of teaching facilities and quality of staff in the College of Law.

In his opinion, the University can cope effectively with more students than its present enrolment, judging with the modern facilities, conducive environment and the qualitative nature of its faculty. He was particularly impressed with the acquisition of the latest Yale and Harvard Law reports. The Scribe urged the Founder not to relent on his efforts in sustaining the high reputation of the College of Law which had variously been described and adjudged as the best in Nigeria and West Africa.

While welcoming the delegation to ABUAD, the Founder, Aare Afe Babalola (SAN) criticised the rule which set quotas on admission numbers into courses in tertiary institutions. According to him, it is absolutely unfair to deny youths the opportunity to study their preferred courses thereby changing their destiny in life. He called on the Nigerian Legal Aids Council to join hands with stakeholders in the law profession to correct this anomaly.

The Founder thanked them for their visit and urged them to be fair and objective in their report. He called on them to partner with ABUAD in its quest to bequeath the best transformatory education to youths in Nigeria thereby removing the rot in University education.

The event took place at the Council Chambers of the University with all the management staff of the University and lecturers from the College of Law in attendance.
