The dream of the Founder of Afe Babablola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD) to commission the newly completed University Teaching Hospital by March this year has now become a reality as an American philanthropy organization, has donated medical equipment worth $1million to Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD).

The President and Chief Executive Officer, Project C.U.R.E, Mr. Williams Douglas Jackson, who spoke with journalists at ABUAD said he the donation was to equip the newly constructed Afe Babalola University Teaching hospital(ABUTH) of the institution.

Jackson, who said he was proud of the exploits made by the institution in the areas of entrepreneurship and academics, added that medicine has changed all over the world and that time has come for the country to join the fray for Nigeria to join the league of developed nations.

“Time has come to take the health of the people with seriousness and ABUAD is doing well in this regard. University education is meant to develop the potentials of the citizens, not only in getting better education, but in enterprise and ABUAD, to me has done exceedingly well.

“I believe the world can change and ABUAD as a change agent can serve as a precursor that will bring a revolutionary change in the lives of the people, which I believe can start from Nigeria. Public health, particularly the ones that deal with children and women have attracted the world attention and I want this Teaching hospital to focus attentions in these areas. “The health of the people is very important because it is only a healthy population that can drive the economy of any nation.

As ABUAD is building the entrepreneurship potentials of the students, they should also think about of the health of the people in the community where it operates. “What we are giving is just an encouragement to show that we all have the opportunity to change the world if we contribute our quota”, he said.

The extremely happy ABUAD’s founder, Aare Afe Babalola (SAN), who vowed that he would Commission the hospital by March this year, praised United States of America and its citizens for their philanthropic gestures, saying this has been felt all over the world in terms of aids and grants benefits to developing countries.

“Dr. Jackson came from the clime where people give freely. When I started this university I did a launching where many Nigerians promised as much as one million dollar. Many of them did not pay a dime up to now.

“This university is known by NUC as the pride of this nation. We have surpassed our targets in just seven years. We are deliberately changing the education system of this country and we are proud that we are meeting our vision”, he said.
