The Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti has announced its second Founder’s Day Celebration. The event which is slated for 21st January 2011 will be celebrated in a grand style. In its radical drive for education reform in Nigeria the University has set another example for others to follow as the first university in Nigeria to award scholarships and other awards to more than a quarter of its pioneer student population. This is unusual in the history of Nigeria’s education. Even the lecturers and other non-academic staff of the University are not left out. Those who have distinguished themselves in their various fields will also be honoured with awards on that day. There is no doubt that this is part of the reform Nigeria’s education needs; where industry and achievements are recognised and celebrated.
