CIST honors Aare

The Founder of Afe Babalola University Ado-Ekiti, Aare Afe Babalola has been described as an unusual man who dares to think positively different, who puts in his boundless energy, credible brand name and stupendous resources to chart a new path of transformation in the Nigerian University educational system and a father, who believes in the tradition of industry, hard work, determination and excellence.

Making the description was the Co-ordinator of Children- in- Science and Technology, (CIST) Professor Ibiyinka Ogunlade at the investiture of Aare Afe Babalola as an Honorary Fellow of CIST at a three day International Conference which took place at the Multi-purpose hall of the University.

She thanked the Founder for his philanthropic gesture and solid support for the CIST at all times.

Professor Ibiyinka who decorated the Founder with the insignia of the CIST also presented a plague commemorating the award.

Responding on behalf of Aare, the BOT Representative, Professor Olatunji Orubuloye promised to support the CIST in its laudable efforts at producing future Scientists for the nation.

The occasion also witnessed the celebration of the birthday of the wife of the Founder, Yeye Modupe Babalola.

She was described as a natural problem solver and a dedicated proponent of the ABUAD Vision.

Speaking on her behalf, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Sidi Osho expressed gratitude to the organizers for honoring both the Founder and his wife.

Many schools thrilled the audience with musical dance-steps and playlets at the three day International Workshop which has as its theme: "Focusing on the Potentials of Children in Science and Technology for Sustainable Development".

Dignitaries at the ceremony included the Vice Chancellor, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti (EKSU), Professor Patrick Aina, key officers of EKSU and ABUAD, Proprietors and Proprietresses of Schools, Government Officials, Students and Pupils from various Primary and Secondary Schools from many States of the Federation.
