ABUAD students and staff get scholarship and merit awards

The conferment of the yearly scholarship and merit awards to deserving students and member of staff for 2011/2012 has taken place at the Multi-purpose Hall of the University.

During the ceremony, eighty-seven students were presented with awards that ranged from Academic Excellence Awards with CGPA 5.0; merit Award for student using the Cleanest Room and Toilet. Others were merit Award-Academic Staff; Merit Award-Non Academic Staff; Merit Award-Most Caring Parent and Founder’s Outstanding Award. The top winners of this year Award presentation in Academic excellence were Opasina Eniola, Ade-Ojo Olayombo both in Law College, Odebunmi Ifeluwa, Ogunbusola Oluwatosin both from Economics, Adesina Aderonke, Adeyemi Funmilayo (International Relations) and Akinseye Clinton of Petroleum Engineering. They all scored the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 5.0 at 300level and were rewarded with Scholarship Awards of four hundred thousand naira each.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Michael O. Ajisafe who coordinated the exercise explained that the award which was aimed at rewarding excellence was designed to encourage both staff and students to work harder in any situation they found themselves.

The Founder, Aare Afe Babalola and his wife Yeye Modupe Babalola awarded the prizes and certificates of merit.

An Awardee, Miss Opasina Eniola who responded on behalf of other award recipients expressed appreciation to the Founder for his kind gesture. She prayed to God to grant Aare long life and good health.
